Our Safeguarding Policy

At Seguro Childcare, safeguarding and health and safety are at the forefront of everything we do. We embed this across all areas, from staff recruitment, policies and procedures, and the activities we provide.

It's our goal to create feelings of safety, security, and belonging for all our children and their families.

Our designated safeguarding lead person is Lynn Hampson, and our deputy officers are as follows;

  • Infant Room - Stacey Dainty

  • Juniours Room - Rose Lamb

All staff undertake regular training and updates in areas such as

  • Paediatric First Aid

  • Safeguarding

  • Prevent Duty

  • Country Lines

  • Basic Food Hygiene

We do this to ensure we are doing the right things, and we reference the following documents, which are as follows;

  •  EYFS guidance

  • Prevent duty guidance for England and Wales

  • Keeping children safe in education

  • Safeguarding children in early years settings, which includes online considerations

Suitable people

We have a rigorous recruitment and induction process for new staff to ensure they are suitable for us. Seguro Childcare needs to receive the relevant references for all staff alongside obtaining an enhanced DBS check.

We will allocate a key person to each child and their family, and their role will be to ensure the care of your child is tailored to their needs. This helps the child become familiar with our setting and encourages relationships between the child, parents, and key worker.

Health & Medication

We promote good health in our setting, and we have policies and procedures to respond to children who become ill while in our care. Our policies and procedures also include what we do as a club to prevent infection.

We have a policy for administering medication to children, and we require written permission at all times from a parent/guardian.

Food & Drink

All staff hold basic food and hygiene qualifications. While your child is at the club, we provide breakfast and snacks. All snacks provided are healthy and low in sugar. We will also offer juice and water throughout the sessions.

We obtain information about any child's allergies and any special dietary requirements. We do this to ensure we can cater to every child's specific needs.

Accident or Injury

We have policies in place in the event of an accident or injury. All our staff hold a 12-hour paediatric first-aid certificate.

Seguro Childcare has also gained the 'Milles Mark Award' for our first aid and safety practices.

Safety

We have a health and safety policy. All areas we use are risk assessed, and we review this at least once a year.

The children will also complete our child-friendly daily risk assessments. In addition, we have fire evacuation procedures in place and conduct regular drills, which we record.

Smoking

We are a non-smoking site, and this includes the use of e-cigarettes.

Special Educational Needs

Seguro Childcare welcomes children with special educational needs, and we will do everything we can to ensure we fully meet them.

In addition, we will work closely with their families and school to enable us to adapt where reasonably possible.

Complaints

We have a written procedure for dealing with any concerns and or complaints. We keep written records of the complaints and the outcome.

If you have any questions or would like to receive a copy of any of the policies and procedures mentioned above, please email admin@segurochildcare.com
